What is digital activity?
Digital activities represent all the uses an individual gives to the internet and, therefore, all the range of what can be done in the digital world. Then, using the internet for different ends (such as communicating, entertaining, going procedures and educating) show its high level of digital activity. So the main question is: How much digital activity is there among the Peruvian population?
How was this index made?
The Digital Activity Index (InAD) is based on the Alkire–Foster methodology for measuring multidimensional poverty. Information from the National Household Survey (ENAHO) for the first two quarters of 2023 was used, specifically the question on the “use that people made of internet services in the past month.” The nine digital activities* considered represent the internet dimensions in which the Peruvian population** operates. Online activities have different weights and were grouped into three categories (basic, intermediate, and advanced) because they vary in terms of frequency, complexity, user impact, and the skills required to carry them out. In this way, the InAD measures the exercise of digital skills within a given age group, region, or other classification criterion. The InAD ranges from 0 to 1, where 1 would represent that the entire population fully engages in all digital activities.

* Based on ENAHO question 316, used for the index, the digital activities considered are: obtaining information; communicating; purchasing products and/or services; conducting electronic banking operations and other financial services; formal education or training; carrying out transactions with state organizations/public authorities; entertainment activities; selling products and/or services; downloading antivirus software/programs.
** ENAHO question 316, used for the index, considered individuals aged 6 years and older. The population with valid and complete records was 104,550 individuals nationwide.
